We have a fun one for you on Wednesday May 5th at Thursday’s Lounge in Akron. It is our first “Sexy Suicide Karaoke” night. It will be a wild night, as we have over $200 in sex toys and games as prizes and give aways. The main contest will be the Sexy Suicide, where you have to sing a random song about sex, even I do not know what song you will get. some of the possible songs are -

Bad Touch
I Touch Myself
Like A Virgin
Do Ya Think I’m Sexy

The best Female and best Male singers will walk awa with prizes. We will also have more general prizes such as Sexiest singer and Dirtiest singer. We will also have some for the whole bar, non-singers included. We are even thinking about having a lingerie contest for those daring enough

With St. Patrick Day Over it is time to relax a bit with no major contests at the moment. The next big one is the “Sexy Suicide” on May 5th. I will have more details for that in the next week or two. I will be doing a Suicide Karaoke on the first karaoke of the month at Frank’s Place and Thursday’s Lounge. Other than that it is just a time to relax and have some fun and sing some. So here is the current schedule -

Me and Mikey have been working to plan out what we are going to do for St. Patrick’s Day at Thursday’s Lounge. This year it falls on Wednesday. So our plan is this –

We will be opening early. Karaoke will START at 6pm and only run until 11pm. We will have prizes for people who sing Irish songs! We will also have an Irish Suicide Karaoke Theme set up. Then at 11 We will switch over to dance music with your THursday’s Favorites along with some Irish songs, such as Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, to dance to, with more stuff to give away. So in the words of the Irish (And Petter Griffin’s Irish Father) “Let us drink until the alcohol in our systems destroys our livers and kills us”

We have quiet a few evens coming up at Thursday’s Lounge this winter, infact we have something every night, be it a contest, give away or party. Suicides are also back. Fpr those of you who do not know what those are, it is were I pick a theme and you get a random song that even I do not know what it is. If you impress Will (the bartenders) or myself enough you get a free drink. Simply write “Suicide” as one of your songs on your karaoke slip. Now for a list of upcoming events -

Feb 3 – The Rick Roll Show for our regulars. Same concept as the gong show, except now we use Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up to let you know you are out. Anyone who make’s it through their song get’s a free drink. At the end of the contest the 3 best wing money, $25 for best, $15 for 2nd, and $10 for 3rd, choosen by the audience. The catch, you are not allowed to do a song you normally sing at Thursday’s. Contest starts at Midnight and goes until 1:30am

Feb 10 – DJ George Birthgay Bash – A night of complete chaos with free food and many guest DJs including DJ Nemo (My brother) and Micah T and possible appearences by DJ Larry and DJ Mario. Did mention free home made Food?

Feb 17 – Mardi Gras Party. Technically it is Ash Wednesday, but Mardi Gras is more fun to celebrate. Tons of beads, need I say more?

Other nights – Tin sign give away. I have a collection of nice looking tin signs that I will be giving away each night that there is not a special event. some are Beer signs, some Movie, and some are just random. Included in there are some 3 Stooges, Budweiser Clydesdales, Monty Python, Pepsi, ect… all worth about $10. I will also be rading the Dollar store every so often so there will be more prizes that will be given out how I see fit.

It is going to be a fun winter at Thursday’s Lounge, so make sure you come out. As usual there are over 30,000 songs and $3 Long Islands. Night starts about 9:30 and goes until 2am. 306 E. Exchange St, Akron, OH, 44304

For those of you waiting to see the videos from the West Makret Idol finals, the should be up in the next few days.  There is almost 5 gig of videos so it is taking some time to get everything in order.  I hope to have a zipfile that you can download with all the videos uploaded in the next 24 hours, but once again because of the size it could take longer.  To give you an idea of how big this is, it is 4 times larger than a normal DVD movie would be to download

December 19th will be the finals for this year’s West Market Idol at Frank’s Place on Market.  There are 12 finalist competing for $2,000 in prizes ($500 Cash & $500 Gold Jewlery from Ohio Gold and Diamond Exchange for the best male and best female).  These are 12 of the best singer in North East Ohio, so you do not want to miss this show.  You can hear them warm up from 5-7 and then the final round starts at 7pm.  Their will be 2 rounds and then the judges will decied which 2 people will walk away with $500 cash and $500 gold each a week before Christmas

To clear up a few typos from the WONE press release, here is the proper info -

Qualifying round are ever saturday until DEC 12th.  The Finals are DEC 19th

Warmups are Saturday 5-7, the actual tournament is 7-9.  You must be there and entered by 8pm.  We will be limted to about 14 singers a week (WONE will make the call on the cut off)

Sings will be automatically fade out after 4 minutes.  Not a good idea to pick one with a long intro.

The Best Male and the Best Female singers each week will qualify for the finals on Dec 19th

It’s my favorite time of the year, Halloween!  And I am doing one of my biggest contests at Thursday’s lounge yet.  Halloween “Spookyoke” karaoke and costume contest.  So start work on your costumes now!  There are prizes not only for singers but everyone could win prizes.  We have $100 for our best costumed singer, and we will be giving away $50 to the best costume and also the most creative costume.  We may also be adding more in if  I can get more funds.  I am also working to secure door prizes that will include free drinks,  and hopefully gift certificates to Mr. Zubs Deli (Mario’s New Deli).  I am also trying to get ahold of other sponsors for prizes and give aways
